| I was
born and brought up in Dunedin and returned to NZ, in 2004 with my family,
having lived in the UK for many years. I have had lots of personal experience
of moving nationally within the UK and within Europe. This had prepared me in some ways for the move back to NZ but there were lots of other things that I hadn’t thought about. I spent many hours trawling the internet to get the information I wanted about schools – were they in good areas; properties – what were they really like, how far from schools, shops, main roads etc – estate agents had their own agenda’s; what services were available for my children – one of whom has special needs. The answers I readily got were we can’t tell you until you get here……that was no good, I needed to know some of these things before I made the decision to come to Nelson especially advice on what to bring with me from the UK……!! I needed impartial advice from someone who lived in the Nelson area to give me this information. Hence the idea for ‘Move2Nelson’ was hatched. It has taken a year of planning and organisation to get here but it has been worth it and I hope it will be of value to lots of people who choose to relocate to the Nelson area I must also add that I have found settling in very easy, the people in Nelson are very open and friendly. It has been a positive move even though I came with little idea of what to expect. It would have been less stressful to have had some things in place prior to arrival.
